Our mission
German bureaucracy is confusing, especially when official information is in German and scattered across dozens of websites. ExpatDesk gives you one clear, step-by-step path for each task — with checklists, document lists, and links to official sources.
Who we are
ExpatDesk is built by expats living in Germany. We've done Anmeldung, opened bank accounts, navigated visa extensions, and dealt with Finanzamt letters ourselves. That lived experience is what we write from — not generic blog content.
Every guide is structured the same way: what you need, what to do step by step, common mistakes to avoid, and official sources you can verify yourself.
How we verify content
- Each guide links to official German government or institution sources
- Steps are checked against current requirements and forms
- Guides include a “last verified” date
- We update guides when rules change
